25 Sep Organise a birthday party at home!
The show must go on, but at home!
It’s a birthday with the family! Is your youngest is turning 5? You couldn’t possibly do nothing to celebrate the occasion! You couldn’t possibly tell your little one that they won’t be having a birthday party this year. The solution : have a party at home amongst yourselves! In this section of the blog, we have selected games which can be played between 3 and 5 people, or even more! It gets a bit complicated with less than 3 so the more the merrier! Big families are the best!
What does a birthday under lockdown look like?
You organise a party with the family! A party where you decorate (yourself, by recycling old decorations or placing an order online since transport systems are still working!), you put on a costume, you play games together, your little one blows out candles, you eat cake and sweets, you play more games and you open presents. It doesn’t sound that different to a normal birthday, does it?!
In this section of the blog, we have selected games which you can play with between 3 and 5 people, or even more! It gets a bit complicated with less than 3 so the more the merrier! More than 4 people is great! In conclusion: everyone in the family has to get stuck in, no shying away!
You can choose any of these games at random and you will have bags of fun! If you’re stuck choosing, we have some recommendations based on the age of your little one. If you play What’s the Time Mr Wolf?, The Brazilian Dance or Musical Blind Man’s Buff with your 5 year old, I assure you they will be overjoyed! I can promise you the award of best mother, or best father, in the world if you try out Superhero Bowling, Musical Chairs, Modeling Shortbread Dough or Grandmother’s Footsteps with your 4 year old! Evidently the games take up less time when there are fewer people but that’s not important, you can just pick another game when you are done!
If you decide to have a themed birthday party you can browse the blog and adapt the games and activities to fit your numbers and your theme! You could also try something new – a distanced birthday party! How rock and roll!
Having a party for your children is a time to make memories, a time when everything we are going through can seem far away. If you are working during the week, it is extra important to take advantage of your weekend to embrace moments shared amongst the family. Nobody can take our memories away from us!
On a final note, make sure you share your photos with us! Spread the party spirit, it will help maintain a semblance of normality in these times which feel so unreal: the point is to have fun, to laugh and to forget that we are all under lockdown (whilst still staying home of course!)
