Put all of the gifts together in a place that is accessible for everyone.
Cut out as many little numbered pieces of paper as there are guests. For example, if you have 12 guests, cut out numbers 1-12. If you have 29 guests, cut out numbers 1-29. Simple! Next, fold them up so that everyone chooses one at random.
You are the game master because, I assure you, there needs to be someone to control the joyful mess that is about to happen. Ask the person with number 1 to choose a gift from the pile and open it. Let’s hope they’re happy!
Number 2 can now take another gift from the pile OR steal gift number 1. Ta da! Gift stolen! All of the guests that follow can therefore steal a gift that has already been opened, or open a wrapped gift from the pile.
If a player has had their gift stolen, they cannot steal it back. They can, however, open a new one or steal a different one.
Only move onto the next number if everyone that has already played has a gift in their hands.
The same gift cannot be stolen more than 3 times.
The same person cannot steal a gift more than 3 times.
